Slip On Sneakers:
When shoes are both comfortable and stylish, it becomes obvious that they will be a major trend. These style of shoes started off as skater shoes, but this year, every trendy shoe company has been selling them, adding different unexpected twists to them, focusing especially on texture. For example, the snakeskin uppers on the Topshop and Report sneakers, and the pony hair versions we saw at Sam Edelman and Steve Madden. Whichever way you prefer them, be sure to pick up a pair of these versatile sneakers because they are going to be your favorite shoes this fall, and enhance every outfit!
How To Style: I pair these sneakers with some cuffed black jeans, a black and white striped top and my favorite leather moto jacket. Make sure your outfit doesn’t look too masculine (skater shoes, moto jackets, etc.) by pairing them either with some super skinny jeans to show off your legs or some delicate jewelry.
Cut Out Boots:
Ever since Jeffrey Campbell made his first cutout boot, this style has been a wardrobe staple in the grunge fashion world. Adding an edgy feel to any outfit, this style is going to be huge once again this fall. My favorites are the Jeffrey Campbell Coltrane Boots (More affordable versions of the Balenciaga classics), the Roscoe Boot and the Everly Boot.
How To Style: I like to pair my boots with some black skinny jeans, a white tee, an army jacket and an intricate or embellished bag. Try to keep this look edgy and grungy, so keep the colors mainly cool or neutral.
Slightly less comfortable than slip-on sneakers, but so much more feminine! Add a girly vibe to any outfit when you pair it with these flat pointed shoes! Brands have been having fun with these, experimenting with different fabrics and mix-and-matching colors and textures. For example, the sparkly jelly, metallic snakeskin and floral versions from Jeffrey Campbell, the black and white flats from Joy Divisions, the slashed leather look from Report, and the Black and Brown leather styles from Shoe Cult.
How To Style: Pair these flats with your favorite boyfriend jeans, a black cropped sweater and an oversized bag. However you wish to rock these flats, try to incorporate some more masculine elements such as a boxy coat or some boyfriends jeans as I did, to contrast with the girly-ness of the flats.
