Birkenstocks: This sandal has been disgracing the fashion world for over 117 years, and recently became an huge summer trend. With a contoured brown footbed and dull-colored uppers, it’s no surprise that Birkenstocks were never popular amongst fashion’s elite. You might have noticed Nordstrom’s new ‘Birkenstock’ table, or seen people wearing the classic Birkenstock sandal this summer, but know that one doesn’t need to wear ugly shoes to be on trend. A birkenstock-style platform sandal was seen at Urban Outfitters as well as studded or pony hair styles from Sam Edelman help keep this horrible shoe stylish and on trend.
Bucket Hats: A popular trend already amongst hipsters, the bucket hat is now even bigger and is being supported by celebs like fashion icon Rihanna, Justin Bieber and Pharell. The bucket hat, originally fashionable in the 90’s is now making it’s big return, and is even being sold as tour merchandise at Eminem and Rihanna’s joint tour; Eminem X Rihanna: The Monster Tour.
Ugly Shoes: The ugly shoes are a trend inspired by 2014 runway style. First seen at Prada, Tommy Hilfiger, MSGM, Issey Miyake and then at the Opening Ceremony and Teva collab, the street style world was quick to catch on this trend. From velcro straps to wavy soles, the runway had it all. Similar styles are being sold at Urban Outfitters, Nasty Gal and more hot stores.
