Trendmirror’s Top Two Favorite Street Style Looks of 2014

As the year is finally over, I thought it would be a great time to reflect on two of my favorite street style looks of the past year from the iconic fashionistas  Alexa Chung and Chiara Ferragni. Enjoy!

Alexa Chung is truly a sight to behold in this 90’s-meets-mod inspired look. I love how her outfit is quite simple, by featuring some basic and classic items such as the black Tabitha Simmons booties and the black box bag from Mark Cross, but then adds something a bit more interesting and unexpected with the dotted Giles blouse, and the baby pink vinyl skirt from Marc by Marc Jacobs. I think it’s great to keep one item the focus of an outfit, and Chung definitely achieved that by keeping her outfit monochrome and adding a splash of color with her skirt. The entire look is very 60’s but Chung also modernizes it by adding a choker, which is a fairly recent trend. Overall, I am utterly obsessed with this look on her, and her fair skin and natural makeup just makes the whole outfit look put together and stylish.

As an obsessive Chiara Ferragni fan, there is nothing I have to complain about in this look. The colors are all tied together, for example the black cross body purse and sneakers, and the white color of the crop top and white detailing on the shoes. The pop of color in the pants is just stunning, and wonderfully contrasts with the basic colors of the rest of the outfit. Ferragni really breaks my usual “1 statement piece per outfit” rule by rocking a velvet YSL monogram bag with the iconic tassel, and the fire engine red dress pants, but the color scheme makes it work, and the end is result is mesmerizing!
